REGION "A" TRAVELING PLAQUE RULES 2009-2010 The capture will be determined by combining the sum total of the number of chapter member times the number of miles ridden one way. The miles must be computed from the chapter monthly business-meeting place to the capture site. The chapter with the greatest total amount of miles becomes the new "Captive" chapter. If there are any questions concerning mileage, refer to Mapquest. All Region Staff, District Directors and Assistants should exclude themselves from the mileage calculations in capturing the plaque. Any question as to miles traveled or other issues must be resolved at the time of the capture. Once the plaque has departed the point of capture, there is no recall.
A chapter which has captured the Wanderer is not eligible to take it back from the chapter that immediately captures it from them. It must pass through that chapter and be in possession of another chapter.
It will be the responsibility of the captive chapter to report the capture immediately to Ed Porter, Region A Webmaster, eeporter@verizon.net and to Bob Shrader, Region A Director, floridadd@msn.com .
The captive chapter must make the plaque available within 30 days of capture on a Saturday or Sunday. The plaque goes into play at the Region A Rally and will be recalled and returned to the Region A Director two weeks prior to the next Region A Rally.
AT THE REGION A RALLY, THE WINNING CHAPTER WILL BE THE CHAPTER THAT TRAVELED THE MOST MILES. THEY WILL BE AWARDED $100.00 AND THE ENGRAVED PLAQUE.
THE CHAPTER WITH THE SECOND MOST MILES WILL BE AWARDED $50.00. |

RULES, RULES, RULES
1. The shortest route will be used to determine all mileage as calculated by MapQuest.
2. Distance traveled will be measured from the regular published monthly meeting place to destination. If a Chapter does not have a published meeting place, the courthouse in the town the Chapter is chartered will be used to determine distance.
3. There is no mileage limitation, but the further you travel, the higher your annual miles.
4. A minimum of THREE CHAPTER PARTICIPANTS (with current GWRRA cards) are required to hand off the “Hot Potato”. Guests who ride with a presenting Chapter cannot be an Officer of any other Chapter.
5. MOTORCYCLES WILL BE THE ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION USED!
6. The “Hot Potato” must be delivered to monthly Chapter GATHERINGS, “Kick-Tires” or a
Chapter Poker Run/RALLY/CONVENTION only.
7. For statistical purposes, mileage is computed as follows: number of people with current GWRRA membership cards X (times) the number of miles traveled. This includes Riders and Co-riders. Fill out form and leave form with The Hot Potato. No more stickers/labels!
8. The “Hot Potato” must pass through the hands of three chapters before it can be represented to the same chapter. Should the “Hot Potato” remain with one Chapter more than fifteen days, the three-chapter rule is waived. Any chapter may then go get it and claim the statistical mileage.
9. Any District Team Member present will resolve any disputes among Chapters. If mileage is challenge, MapQuest will be the deciding factor. If disputes still cannot be resolved, the plaque will not be transferred until the District Director makes a final decision.
10. Plaque needs to be surrendered to the District Director by March 1st of each year so that the winner can be determined and plaque awarded at the Annual District Gathering.
At Wing Gathering the Chapter with the most member miles during the year will have permanent possession of that year’s “Hot Potato”.
It is the responsibility of the receiving Chapter Director to advise the District Director, Bill Berry and the Webmaster, Howie Taylor, that they have the “Hot Potato” so that it can be posted as quickly as possible on the website.
